Hunter's Story

Hunter wasn't just a cat; he was the heartbeat of this studio. He sat beside every late-night build, headbutted our laptops when we overworked, and taught us that the best ideas come when you stay curious and kind.

He came home in 2015—a small ball of energy with bright eyes that seemed to understand everything. For eight wonderful years, he was by my side through every challenge and triumph, including the spark that became Nine Lives.

In 2023, we lost Hunter to kidney failure—a disease that often hides until it's too late. The grief was sharp, but it forged a promise: to honor him by helping other families catch issues sooner and keep their companions thriving.

Eight years of sunbeams, code-side naps, and late-night debugging with a purring cofounder.

Presence & curiosity

He reminded us to pause, ask better questions, and chase the laser pointer anyway.

Why this page exists
Never too early

If this helps one family catch kidney issues sooner, Hunter's legacy keeps saving lives.

Moments We Keep

A few beats in Hunter's story and how they shaped Nine Lives.

Found family

Hunter came home—tiny, confident, and immediately in charge of the keyboard.

Nine Lives began as late-night experiments with Hunter curled up next to the laptop.

Legacy in motion

His spirit powers our studio and our promise to fund feline health research.

Raising Awareness

Kidney disease is one of the most common causes of death in cats, yet it often goes undetected until it's too late. Hunter's story is unfortunately shared by many cat owners. With awareness and early detection, more cats could live longer, healthier lives.

Early Detection

Kidney disease is often silent until 75% of function is lost. Regular vet checkups with blood work can catch it early.

Warning Signs

Increased thirst, frequent urination, weight loss, decreased appetite, and lethargy can be warning signs.

Preventive Care

Fresh water, quality diet, and regular vet visits are essential for kidney health in cats.

Treatment Options

Early intervention with diet changes, medication, and hydration therapy can significantly extend quality of life.

Do this for your cat

Simple actions that change outcomes

Trusted resource

Ask for a kidney panel yearly after age 7

Early labs (bloodwork + urinalysis) catch issues before symptoms show.

Hydration is everything

Running water sources and wet food can lighten kidney load day to day.

Our Commitment

At Nine Lives, we believe that our success should translate into tangible good. With every project, we carve out resources for feline kidney research, shelters, and education—so families like ours get more healthy years together.

  • We direct a portion of every project to feline kidney research and treatment trials.
  • We sponsor local rescue partners with food, medicine, and foster support.
  • We publish and share vetted resources on preventable pet health issues.
  • We encourage (and remind) our own community to schedule annual senior-cat checkups.
Our Furry Family

More Than Business

Nine Lives isn't just a web2/web3 marketing company; it's a reflection of our values. Animals are family, and they've shaped who we are. From Hunter and Cosima (our cats) to Dex and Oliver (our border collies), our pets have taught us about unconditional love, loyalty, and living in the moment.

"Animals are not just pets; they're teachers, healers, and family members who leave paw prints on our hearts forever."

Hunter's Legacy

Hunter's memory lives on through every build, campaign, and contribution we make. When you work with Nine Lives, you help fund research, shelters, and the awareness that keeps other companions healthy.
